TEACHING

Brandon is among the most sought-after educators of his generation, with a unique ability to bridge the realms of commercial and concert dance. Bringing over two decades of experience leading classes for studios, conventions, universities, and professional companies, Brandon infuses each session with dynamic energy and positivity.

Creating an open and interactive environment is at the heart of Brandon's teaching philosophy. He actively encourages dancers to speak proudly, think creatively, and fully engage in the learning process.

As a lecturer, adjunct professor, and repetiteur, he has worked with The Juilliard School, The Pennsylvania Ballet, UNCSA Summer Dance, Whim W’Him, Montclair State University, Marymount Manhattan College, Rutgers University, Barnard College, Cornish College, and more.

He is proud to be a certified teacher of Dance for PD®, providing specialized classes for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, and to have toured throughout Africa with DanceMotion USA, a program developed by the US State Department and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

In addition to his teaching roles, Brandon mentors the Teaching Artist Training Program at the Mark Morris Dance Center, conducts open classes in NYC, and frequently serves as a guest instructor nationwide.

TESTIMONIALS

Basic

Brandon, the founder of DDL, was incredible beyond words. His feedback was excellent and provided dancers with solid feedback to continue to truly grow. He gave the best imagery and insight to each dancer. Rarely do you find a guest choreographer who is as talented as he is at an understanding dance at all levels and really teaching how to internalize the feedback provided.

I wish I could more articulately share how great this experience truly was for our dancers, I feel like my words just won’t do him justice. Highly, highly recommend bringing Brandon to your studio!

Brandon has been coming to my studio yearly as a teacher, mentor, and choreographer.  With the curriculum he helped create for my Contemporary program, the progression and advancement of my students in this genre have been undeniable.  He inspires the dancers to believe in themselves, and to feel comfortable trying something new. He is truly invested in educating the dancers in all aspects of dance; going beyond technique to include passion, artistry, integrity, life skills, and work ethic in and outside the studio.   He is humble, focused on the dancers, and will develop the class to work with the needs of the studio at the time.  He is also fun, caring, and my students love his classes.

Brandon is a wonderful teacher. His classes provide a thorough technical foundation--be it as a warm-up for professionals or as a training platform for all ages--and he uses imagery to bring movement concepts to life. But best of all, he's entertaining and sweet. He provides a safe and enjoyable space to grow, even for the pros.

Brandon effortlessly radiates his enthusiasm, care, and deep knowledge of what it means to be an active artist in the dance industry. In Brandon's dance classes, I always feel uplifted, like I have the preparation and confidence to tackle any technical challenge. He is incredibly skilled as a dance educator, designing his classes to be equal parts challenging and fun! I've been so lucky to also work side-by-side with Brandon in the Mark Morris Dance Group. At MMDG, it's no different, his infectious bright energy lifts us up, and his professionalism makes dancing even more of a joy!
